I am in awe of the forces that swirl around us that we are often not aware of, and yet I do sometimes take the time to examine. When my kids gave me an iPod 2 years ago, I went onto several music sites to think about songs I wanted to download. That led me to a site that originates in The Netherlands, and they had a notice that they were looking for someone who spoke English to help translate lyrics. That's how I met Mark. I have been able to help some. There was a song that was popular in The Netherlands that was a reggae version of the Peter, Paul and Mary song 500 Miles. Mark had never heard the original version, so I was able to send it to him. He has now become an email friend. Remember the old term of pen pal?
Mark led me to a social network site called Hyves. On Hyves, I met Remi, who loves astronomy as much as I do. There was a study done on connections in email networks, and there really are quite often only 6.6 degrees of separation. I do believe in Kismet, and I'm anxious to see if Hyves leads me to other interesting contacts, or where else in my life connections will be made.
I'm also learning a few words of Dutch. Vrienden means friends, uitloggen means log out, and verstuur means send.
A high school friend, Tim, knows a young lady who works with my son. I was amazed that seemingly random people knew each other.
I also loved the PBS show Connections. It was so well done, and I learned so much from it. It showed the interweaving of inventions, accidents, and, well, Kismet!

See, during my search for the link above, Kismet led me to this:

I love the movie and the song.
I'm also happy because we got lots of rain last night. Yipeeeee!

Shelly, check this out: I just returned Disc 2 of the Connections series to Netflix today! Did I already tell you we were watching it? I don't think I did.... eeeeeerieeeeee!!
We used to watch it way back when and recently I got in the mood to see it again, so I put the whole series on our Netflix queue. It's just so weird to me to then see you mention it. Funky!
Wow! Spooky! No, you hadn't mentioned it. It's just another one of those weird things the Universe throws at us.
