Dis N Dat

Gee, where to start. It's been more than a month since I posted. Let's see, first of all, I'm glad it's officially spring. I hate winter. We had snow again last week. Fortunately, it was just a light, fluffy dusting, and it didn't cause many road problems here.

I am still making my way through teaching two writing classes. I'm learning a lot about how to use computers in the classroom. I hope to become more knowledgeable in the future. Baby steps are at least steps toward a goal.

I hate the political climate our country is in now. Legislation has been voted into law that is not approved of by the majority of the citizens. Yes, insurance companies do deserve some of the blame, but we now have a socialist state, which I never thought I would see in my life. "This is the way the world ends, not with a bang, but a whimper."

I splurged and bought a nice belly dance outfit. It's a lovely shade of lavender, and it suits my personality to a T. I do need to make some adjustments to it, but I think I will enjoy it. I did get a lot done during spring break - mainly mending and working on sewing projects.

Well, that's a quick summary of what I've been up to. I haven't had a chance to think through a lot of things, but I'm working on it.

Phaedra Reborn

The good news is I did my solo in dance class today. I was pleased that I got a lot of compliments. I just wish Isis had been there. I surprised myself by doing a half-way decent back bend. Not bad for a 54-year-old. It felt nice to perform again, without having to worry about remembering somebody else's choreography. It was good to just be myself.

I hate winter!! As it looks now, I will be on campus when stupid snow/sleet starts falling. Dirty word!

I Can Do Bad All By Myself

Madea (Tyler Perry) made a great movie. It's pretty predictable if you've seen the previews, but I really liked it. Great songs and great message:

Sometimes people find themselves in bad situations, and it's hard to break free.

Today was my first day to teach class, but because of paperwork, I can't really start until (hopefully) Thursday. Wish me luck!

Guido

Wow! It's been a long time since I posted.
I danced at another hafla earlier this month. I was not sure about it all, because I was the first dancer in the line, the first one to move to the music. Eeeek! I made several mistakes, but we all got good comments, so I guess all is well. I've ordered the CD, so I can see for myself. "What does not kill you makes you stronger. :)

It was a good Christmas, just very confusing. Mom was in the hospital, and we thought she might have to celebrate Christmas there, but she was able to come home that morning. Each gathering is important, because we may not have too many more as a family.

We hardly ever see movies, but we saw Avatar (ohhhh, pretty!) and Nine. I can so relate to poor Luisa. %^&*!

I've been having fun downloading iTunes, because the kids gave me gift cards. Yipeeee!

So, 2009 was a mixed bag. I am looking forward to 2010, and hope it brings happiness to all.

Thanksgiving

Yeah! All of the Halloween decorations have been put away. A little late, but it's done. I'll put the Thanksgiving decorations away in the next few days, take a few breaths, then start decorating for Christmas. It's so hard to believe that it's almost December.

I'm Still Here

Whew! Been busy with Halloween, sewing Christmas stockings, and practicing a dance for the Christmas hafla. So much to do, and little time to think deep thoughts.
