Tempus Fugit

Wow!  It's been almost five years since I published anything here.  I'm so glad I don't make my living off of this.  So many changes, some good and some bad.  The Average Bear is no longer around, which feels strange after 38 years of marriage, and four years dating before that.  I thought of him today as I was putting some books back on the shelves after a remodeling project.  They were mainly textbooks we used when we were young and in college.  Even to the end, he did not take any responsibility for the poor health choices he made.  It reminds me of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" -  We could have had it all.

Even though five years have passed, I am still fighting battles.  It has taken almost 5 years to settle the estate, but I think I've gotten all forms filled out, and my name changed on most of the mail and other business.  I'm still getting offers to buy the house.  No, I'm trying to get it updated and repaired, which has been a battle in and of itself.

So, I'm still here (sort of), and still fighting battles I should not have to fight.  But that's the current state, and I'll just keep putting one foot in front of the other.  Thanks for listening.  I hope your life path is a little smoother.

Never Again

It has not been a great year.  I applied for several jobs, but didn't even reach the interview stage.  The AC went out last night.  My sister is going through a rough time.  I'm ready for life to take a different turn for the better.  It is tiring having to fight several battles day after day.

Patience

I will have patience.
I will have patience.
I will have patience.

Working, working, working...

I'm working hard to change the unpleasant things in my life, but it's easy to get discouraged.  No full-time jobs available that I have found, no long-lost wealthy relatives, and I haven't bought a lottery ticket this week.  "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."

Sigh

Not the best day, but others have it much rougher.  Just wish I could have some smooth sailing for a while.
Heavy sigh.

The Average Bear Update

The Average Bear is not very smart.  But then again, we already knew that, didn't we?

Sorry, not sorry.

The Average Bear

The Average Bear make me laugh today by being so out of touch with reality. Usually, he makes me want to pull my hair out, but today I got a good chuckle.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Had a good day. Visited Mom & Dad. They are showing their age. Otherwise, I enjoyed family time.

Still Here

I don't post very often. Usually there's not much going on, but I did have a good time performing at the Christmas hafla.

We are also decorating the outside of our house with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme. I'm not sure how our neighbors feel, but we are having a good time.

Long Time

Geez! It's been forever since I posted anything. My life is pretty boring. Had surgery last month, had a nice Fourth of July yesterday. Lots of work to get ready for the new semester with a new textbook. So much for a relaxing summer...

Small Steps

Yeah! Last Saturday, I performed a solo at the dance studio. Other than a zill getting stuck in my hair, it went well. It was good to finish it. Still a little sadness at what was and should have been, but I'm moving on to try to get into Advanced 2. Slowly but surely.

Time Flies

Wow! My last post was in August? Sheeesh! Busy, busy, busy. My life is so boring that I haven't had much to say. Another year has come, which is hard to believe.

We had a great Halloween, thanks to all of the help we had from family and friends.

I hate winter, especially snow or sleet. I'm ready for spring.

Halloween Is Almost Here!

I'm so excited that Halloween is so close! We still have lots to do, but with the help of friends and neighbors, we are making progress. Happy, happy, happy!

Iago

It's been a very long time since I posted here. It's been very busy and stressful lately. It's been a particularly tough week. I lost the lovebird that I've had for 15 years.

Iago was my sweetest bird. I know "parents" aren't supposed to have favorites, but Iago was the favorite of the three. I'd had him the longest, and he was the most tame. He would step up without hesitation, and would let me love on him when I wanted to. He loved to swing in his box swing, and he loved millet.

He was best buddies with Phoenix, another love bird. Iago was a peach faced. He was mainly green, with a peach head, and beautiful blue under his wings and tail. He was named after the bird in the movie Aladin.

I knew he was old, and he had not been as perky the last few months. I knew that he did not have a lot of years left, but I was not ready to lose him. He brought me so much joy, and it's hard to lose him now when so many other things in life are going wrong.

I remember going to Irving to meet with the breeder. There were almost a dozen peach faced to choose from, but he seemed to be the happiest and friendliest. I made the right decision when I chose him.

Many marriages don't even last 15 years. It's the same amount of time as raising a child through their freshman year in high school. It was a long and wonderful friendship. Fifteen years is a long time for a lovebird to live, but it was too short a time for me. I miss him very much.

Dis N Dat

Gee, where to start. It's been more than a month since I posted. Let's see, first of all, I'm glad it's officially spring. I hate winter. We had snow again last week. Fortunately, it was just a light, fluffy dusting, and it didn't cause many road problems here.

I am still making my way through teaching two writing classes. I'm learning a lot about how to use computers in the classroom. I hope to become more knowledgeable in the future. Baby steps are at least steps toward a goal.

I hate the political climate our country is in now. Legislation has been voted into law that is not approved of by the majority of the citizens. Yes, insurance companies do deserve some of the blame, but we now have a socialist state, which I never thought I would see in my life. "This is the way the world ends, not with a bang, but a whimper."

I splurged and bought a nice belly dance outfit. It's a lovely shade of lavender, and it suits my personality to a T. I do need to make some adjustments to it, but I think I will enjoy it. I did get a lot done during spring break - mainly mending and working on sewing projects.

Well, that's a quick summary of what I've been up to. I haven't had a chance to think through a lot of things, but I'm working on it.
